One of the most meaningful gifts you can give your wedding guests is a beautiful photo of them; one that captures their joy, laughter, and the love they share with you on your special day. While your wedding is, of course, about celebrating your love story, it’s also about the people who come together to witness and support that love.

Your guests play a huge role in making your wedding unforgettable, and I love capturing them just as much as I do the couple. From candid moments of laughter to heartfelt embraces, my goal is to document the genuine connections that make your wedding day so special.

Here’s how I approach capturing your guests’ candid and editorial moments to give you a wedding album filled with real, meaningful memories:

Three friends in elegant dresses toast with wine glasses while enjoying a sunny outdoor gathering.
Wedding party posing on marble stairs in formal attire including blue, white and teal dresses.
A group poses outdoors wearing colorful formal dresses in pink, lavender, white, yellow, blue and orange against a green garden.

Understanding You & Your Guests

Before your big day, I’ll ask you about your guests. Who are the important people I should focus on? Are there any special relationships or dynamics within your families or friendship groups? This helps me understand the key players in your story and lets me anticipate those special moments, whether it’s a proud parent, an emotional sibling, or a long-time friend.

Building a Connection with Your Guests

On the day itself, I’ll take a few moments to introduce myself to your guests, so they know who I am and feel comfortable with me taking photos. A simple “Hi, I’m Sarah, I’m the photographer today, and I’m excited to capture all these moments for you” helps me connect with them and sets the tone for more relaxed, authentic photos.

Capturing real moments

While the emotions and reactions take centre stage, I also love capturing the atmosphere of the moment. The flicker of candlelight, the soft clink of glasses, the intimate ambiance of the room; these details help set the tone of the speech and are just as important in telling the full story of your day.

Respecting Your Guests

While I’ll be capturing candid shots, I always make sure to approach your guests with respect. If I want to take a photo, I’ll ask if they’re comfortable with it, and if not, no problem! I never want anyone to feel like they’re being “observed” or treated as just another shot on a list.

My goal is to make everyone feel seen and appreciated, not like they’re on a safari!

Thoughtful Editing

Once the day is over, when it comes time to edit your photos, I focus on keeping the natural, candid feel of those moments. I want your guests to look like themselves – with all the emotion, energy, and beauty of the day intact. My editing style aims to preserve the genuine connections and memories in a way that fits the overall vibe of your wedding.

Your wedding day is about more than just the two of you – it’s about the people who are there to celebrate with you. By focusing on your guests and the connections they share, I’ll capture moments that will give you a complete and heartfelt memory of your day. The photos I take will become lasting memories not just for you, but for everyone who shared this special day with you.
